Each year the Moles Funeral home staff and their families go carolling. We have gone to the same place every year...our younger daughter, Jane, thinks that it is just wrong...but we go every year...yep, we go to the Assisted Living Health Care Center in Ferndale. We sound terrible...although last night we did sound really pretty good.
We always gather in the entry. As you can see we are an excited group. This year we had a fun surprise...Santa and his lovely wife joined the sing-a-long. The residents seemed to enjoy their visit and it was a surprise to most of the staff.
After we sang our hearts out, had several duets, piano solos from the younger generation, and the children sang away in the manger with Santa and Mrs. Claus standing by...
We went back to Greenacres Funeral Home for a "dessert" potluck! MMMMMMM Sugar...another tradition on this night...
Each family then posed with Santa and Mrs. Claus. If you know me, I'd never pass up the chance to pose with jolly, old St. Nickolas!
You see, it isn't Santa that is important, it is the joy that he brings to every age. We watched the older people light up when he entered the room. And it isn't the fact that a funeral home staff sings to those who are elderly. It isn't even whether we sound good or bad, because as I say every year...we haven't gotten any better...What makes this one of my favorite things is the people and the joy that is felt that night.
So...today...Santa and singing at the Assisted Living Care Center is one of my favorite things...

Who is the cutie in Teal and can she be my grandma? She is so cute and little next to Santa!
She is one of the residents. She didn't know if she wanted to stay until Santa came. Then, she couldn't take her eyes off of him. It was so sweet. I'll check to see if she will be your grandma...
